It's why I chose to lease to Landstar. Of course, I thought they had a lot more contract freight than they do. I've got my niche though. Playing the spot freight game can be good, but it can also be very bad. If you aren't broke yet, I would be trying to get some direct customers asap.

I got a buddy leased to landstar said he gets 73% and complains about it! But hes always going to cali for 3 bucks or more and coming back for same! Told me today landstar wants him to go to onboard recorders.
He stays busy! And is always around the three dollar mark! So i dont no! Sounds better than sitting a week at a time!
Been sitting in mt sterling ky for seven days! I see no choice but to star hauling this $2.00 a mile freight which i don't care were i go that is the rate off of internet truckstop..............

Need to stop dealing with brokers 100% of the time and get some direct freight. My rates have not come down. It has slowed up some but the rates are the same.
