    Fuel OTR?

How are you buying fuel OTR? What is the best fuel card provider when not using a factoring company and why? I have heard different suggestions from different folks regarding savings, ease, and fuel management. Thanks.

Cash only, about 7 to 15 cents cheaper at the pump. I am independant, so I don't receive any discount offered to a major carrier.

I use OOIDA's truckers advantage fuel card by fleetone. Easier/better than carrying cash around and you get cash price at the pump.

I'm using the EFS fleet card, cash price plus a 7-5 cent discount at Pilot, Flying J, TA, Petro locations. Pretty easy and nice online support, seeing if anything else put there. I do my payroll with it as well.

we use efs. all my purchases are less then the receipt i get. which is cash price. no matter where i go.

i put my fuel in my accounting. then have to lower the amount when i get my settlement. usually on average of around $2 on each purchase.

Agreed. Anyone claiming the cash price as a 'discount' don't understand what a true discount really is.

Cash price at Petro in Carlisle, PA today: $3.969. I'm paying $3.7346 through NASTC's QPN.

    23.44 cpg. That's a discount.

Out of pocket... I mainly fuel at the Love's, this engine seems to get better MPG with their fuel in it.

    8.04-8.07 with Love's.

You don't ever even know your discount is with NASTC b/c THEY WONT TELL YOU! Know why, because they are keeping part of your discount. My EFS cash price most defiently is a discount and its combined with a .05 cent discount at Pilot / Flying J's. All fuel in the area comes from the same RACK (city by city) so the fuel Loves has is the same fuel Pilot has and the same fuel Independents have, don't let them trick you otherwise.

Every day I get a list of every fuel stop in the network and what the price will be that day. I look at the pump price when I'm there and know what price I'm going to be charged. Simple math tells you what the discount is.

    It's cost plus 4 cents at TA/Petro.

Also, if you're taking the credit price and counting the 6 or 5 cents you get for the 'cash equivalent', then my price is even better at the Petro in Carlisle that day. Since, I was posting the price listed for cash.
