The house has central air, but I couldn't tell you if it works or not. I haven't even tried to turn it on in over 5 years...and I sleep here every night.

I'm wondering the same thing because it has been nasty this summer. I have never sweated so much in my entire life.

And rates are probably the same now as they were then. You get what you pay for when it comes to drivers.

If the A/C isn't working, then I'm not either.

Surprised you had a truck running from ca to ma with a solo driver hauling produce? How many o/o here run west coast to east coast solo? Do brokers allow 4 to 5 days for produce to be delievered? Curious has been 15 yrs since I have had to deal with produce.

We did what we had to do in order to get the load delivered. There are too many wimps and whiners in this industry today. It was just as hot then as it is today. The guy said that he was going to get the a/c fixed as soon as the driver delivered the load. And you don't always get what you pay for in drivers these days.

How common is it in the reefer part of the industry to have absolutely no leeway on delivery times. I know they get mad, but a complete refusal? How late was he? I certainly don't think you where unreasonable asking him to drive at night, as long as you paid for a hotel in the daytime so he could rest. Asking him to sleep in the truck in the daytime would have been unreasonable. As others have said, you are probably gonna take a hit on this one. Driver was a loser but not much can be done. If truck was given to a shop for repairs, there is nothing criminal against the driver. About all you can do is take it to court, see what, if any judgement you get, and then see if you can eventually collect.

The A/C went out in my truck during the hottest part of last summer, when it was 115* across KS and I lost it west of Pratt. Stingy owner didn't get it fixed for more than a week. I had to pay my own hotel bills.

Oh, wait... I own the thing...
