Owner Operators in Oil Fields
There are several forums out here about jobs in the oil fields but 95% of the ones I have found relate to company drivers. Are there any owner operators with dry vans on the forum who are working the oil field area willing to share information or advice.

Sorry...I drove a tank in the field. I drove someone else's truck, but I know what the trucks made...so I have a little info on that side. As far as dry van goes, I don't see much of a need for it in the patch. Flat-bed can get some work, as well as hot shot, but you're better of driving a tank in the field as far as pay goes. Unless you wanna fork out the big bucks for a Hydra-Vac or a badazz tow rig.

I'm an O/O in the patch pulling transports. I've never seen a van on any location. Any oilfield products used in the field are generally delivered to a service supply company. Flatbeds will deliver pipe, BOP's, valves, etc. Transports are used most to deliver and haul off fluids i.e.( fresh water, saltwater, drilling mud). It would be best to have someone willing to give you business before you buy equipment. The old saying of how much you think you need to start up your business, double it is so true and that's only enough to survive the beginning. Good luck!

Not interested in purchasing equipment, just thought there might be some use for the equipment I have. Anybody know of anybody needing power units to haul their trailers? Have endorsement for doubles/triples. Don't have Hazmat anymore but no big deal to get it back. Anybody out there got any advice about power units in the fields. I have read some posts that the roads are really hard on the equipment.
