    i find that funny when they say that, because you know dang well that isn't "all" they have in it, because they don't work for free either.... but want you to.

    LS works VERY well for me pulling a dry van it just depends on where you are, who you know, and what your reputation is.

    When they tell me that, I tell them that they bid it too low and need to counsel the shipper on what constitutes an appropriate rate.

    As for LS loads, we negotiate an all-in rate after calculating fees to consider routing, tolls, weight, terrain, possible shipper / receiver delays (trade shows, grocery warehouses, etc.), and extra stop pay among other things. Basically treat them as if they were just another broker.

    And that is the way it should be. I always take the rate i need and divide it by our 73% we get. If i like it, i take it. If not, I pass.... what they give me for FSC and tolls is just an added bonus in my eyes. i try to operate as if it were my own authority...
