The high cost of fuel...time to unite on a shutdown and do something about it.
Drivers...I know this has been talked about in the past but we could never stand together to make it happen...But now with disel fuel out of control again and over $4.00 a gallon everywhere, IT IS TIME WE STEPPED UP AND ORGANIZED A SHUTDOWN TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT AND TO THE OIL COMPANIES....THIS TIME WE STAND TOGETHER AND PARK THE TRUCKS FOR 3 DAYS AND MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 2012.
We would need the company drivers to park as well, JB,SNI,Swift,USX can't fire all the driver's for being sick at the same time and would never be able to find a driver quick enough to haul the freight from the driver's taking a "sick day"
Drivers think about it, if no truck moved for 2 days nationwide, How much of an impact would that have on this country? Stores would start to run out of food and the people would start to panic...The government would take notice, along with the oil companies, And the price of fuel would come down...Plus the brokers would start to pay a better rate to get all the stuff off the docks.
I propose we park the trucks September 4th and 5th, if we need more time to organize this than we come up with a date and do something about this...I know there is gonna be some dumb driver that will say, we won't be able to do it or get oranized enough, but it is this driver that we need to do it and help us out...
Come on drivers , instead of bending over and taking the screwing, Let's stand up and make this happen.

Get back to me on the OUTCOME , oh wait NOT GOING to work , because the minute I park my trucks , my customers will be looking at the 20+ bottom dwellers banging on the door to get their FREIGHT.

Like SHC says, if you have a good fuel surcharge program in place, higher fuel prices can bring in revenue above and beyond the increase in fuel cost, especially if you are fuel efficient.
And I would like the OP to explain to me how shutting down the transportation system in the US will change the GLOBAL price of oil, which is the biggest driving factor in the fuel price.

Seems some think that a shutdown is the RESPONSE to everything , but do not realize it WILL NEVER HAPPEN , try and get 4 truck drivers to decide on LUNCH and see the hassle now magnify that to the co ordination of a NATIONWIDE shutdown.

Remember when the air traffic controllers tried this in the 80's Reagan fired them all and then banned them from ever working as controllers again. Oh then got different people in there to fill pulling people from all over including the military. So all they really gained was loosing there jobs and if trucking went down I imagine it would fall into the same provisos that would allow them to use the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 Just saying
