I'm not an experienced enough O/O to work the load boards, I guess. I've been mostly working the east coast recently and the freight is too cheap. I plan to give the middle of the country a good ole fashion try before making any decisions. Have talked with JB Hunt and Panther II about leasing on with them. Hunt advertises a % plan where I will get 65% of the gross (they say its currently running at 1.60/mile).
Looking for advice !!! -
if those are your options....sell the truck
im asuming you like vans....try looking into repituble company's like landstar, watkins shepard, KVH....in short just stay away from the big training outfitsRoadmedic and Michael76043 Thank this. -
I don't know which load boards you peruse but I have no problem getting loads using them. Now getting back to CA might be a problem sometimes, but then it turns into a 3 legged run....
areelius Thanks this. -
Using Landstar... ITS... and Members Edge. ITS seems the best so far.

I agree with broncrider. If you are going to lease the truck to a company, why not landstar, mercer or one of the other all owner operator companies. It is best to be leased to a company that does not have company trucks in my opinion.leatherneck66 Thanks this. -
If you have your own rights check out Landstar they have a deal on there where you can broker their freight. I was checking into it but the cost of insurance isn't worth it for 3 trucks.
Go to the Landstar website and you will see what I am talking about. -
I'm on Landstar's load board but they don't have much...... Mercer looks good but I'm based in Virginia. I may talk with Watkins Shepard tomorrow.

I know the board your talking about but don't know if thats the one you would have to use.
The one your on is the stuff no one wants! Call them and see if you get on their program do you get to use the same boards as their drivers? -
You're talking about leasing on with Landstar .... not just using their load board. I would like to stay independent and not lease on with anyone if I can .... especially after reading some of the comments about Hunt etc.
The load boards are full of cheap freight...at least on the east coast. Like I said earlier, I'm gonna give it another try concentrating on the middle of the country. I've heard the rates are better.
