As a new owner operator how long do I have to wait to qualify for prepass?

There is no waiting period however it will note that in the computer system and potentially increase the number of pull-ins or red lights you get. After 18 months you are out of the FMCSA's new entrant program and the percentage of pull ins should decrease assuming your doing everything right.

I have a perfect CSA score and been running for over 2yrs independently.
I had less than a 10% pull in rate - higher in CA of course.

    I dumped the PrePass though...
    Cost savings.....

JohnBlanton, I would call PrePass, they will know the answer to your question. They have some of the best customer service I have seen! 1-800-PrePass.) (1-800-773-7277.)

Hanadarko, I don't think you are saving anything by getting rid of PrePass! Because I am an OOIDA member I get Prepass for $13.50 a month. I bypass about 45 out of 48 FL scales in an average month, and bypass the FL Ag stations, (Cabbage Cops!) about 31 out of 32 times. I figure I save about 1/4 gallon each time I bypass. That's 20 gallons a month which is over $80.00. Not to mention the time savings, PLUS I don't urinate time in line with the cabbage cops listening to their STUPID questions, or better, being ignored while they play solitaire on the computer!
I did not take GA into account, those idiots seem to bring EVERYONE in about 90% of the time the past 3 months! If they were playing fair I would have $100.00 in fuel savings, all for a $13.50 investment!

There is more to it....but for now, I will just list that is was the added expense I wanted to remove.
It did work as advertised and the better your CSA/SAFER score is, the lower the pull in rate.

    Jack,

I am with you on that one....the time savings plus the fuel savings make it well worth it. You are right, GA has been pulling people in a good bit lately - quit going to FL last year except for a few produce runs earlier this year that could go on a vented van.

Prepass is truck specific... so the more clean inspections you get, the less pull in your gonna have.
I rarely get pulled in and when I do, everyone else is too.
