You can go by any IRS office, pay the tax and get a stamped receipt on the spot. They don't give out stickers or charge extra.

 

In Indiana you used to be able to pay it at the IRP Office, in Indianapolis. Do you have a local IRP/IFTA office? Give them a call in the morning and they can give you the details.

 

problem is, some folks dont have "local" irs offices example my closest one would be augusta,ga or savannah,ga, either is a 140 mile round trip and ###### to park especially (take plenty of quarters at savannah and then be prepared to park walk three blocks and make sure of the time in case the meter runs , last time i tried that i was there 3 hours and fed the meter 3 times.

i do the expresstrucktax thing, never leave the living room, dont wait , and each time i used had the e-tax receipt in less than 3 hours

if i drove to either place i would use about 25.00 in gas and use at least 5 to 6 hours doing it. 9.90 is a far better use of time and resources


and as far as paying at an irp office , the only one in georgia is in atlanta. i would rather be locked up in prison in the same cell with a 6' 10" gang member from los angeles who called me his baby the minute i walked into the cell, rather make a trip to the irp office in hapeville(atlanta) ever again.
