I have a Excel Spreadsheet that I have done up I use for filing my IFTA reports. It is an Excel "template" file format. You open it and when you save it, it prompts the user for a new file name automatically. This one remains blank so you can start all over next quarter.
Rather easy to use and I have "modified" it to be user friendly. I highlighted the cells that need to be filled in, locked the cells that don't or should not be changed.
It's pretty straight forward.
If there is a way the mods can help post it, I am willing to share it here on TTR.

Do you have an SQL source for updating the rates or do you have to check them and update manually each quarter ? I made something similar, but it would be nice if I could make it update the tax rates automatically. It would be real nice if I could make it print out the return, but I haven't gotten that far with it. I'd like to take a look at yours anyways, can u send it if I pm my email ?
-
No, I haven't done a SQL for updating rates. I might do it once a year. I go onto the MN site for reporting my IFTA and they have then on there already for me.
Feel free to PM me your email and I'll send it to you. Be nice to have some critique on it how it works for others.dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
So basically. you just enter your numbers and it will figure it out right? Cause we use excel for a few things. never thought of using it for the IFTA like that. You would have to watch though and see what the rates are per mile.

pretty much.
I did mine tonight.
The spreadsheet said I owed $1.78 or something like that.
When I went online, the state said I owed like $4.72. I didn't go in to figure out the actual difference. I know there are states that have updated their IFTA rates, but I did not put that into MY report. The state has the current rates and that's where I am concerned with them.
The cells for the individual rates are editable for entering the correct rates in. 3rd qtr 2012 when I used it first, my reports matched perfectly with the state.
I have a company that is willing to charge me $60 and take 15 minutes to enter in the information. Or I can log in myself and do it for free. -
Is that company that you can log into for free, is that for anyone? Or just you?

yop, so long as you have a MN IFTA account.

I would think that IL has a similar set-up.

Can you share with me the excel ifta template.

Can i get a copy of that template through pm?

I have no time (I am a student and I have a huge project due tomorrow, work for the company etc) to take care of the IFTA report for the first quarter of 2013 on time. I wonder if would be ok to submit it on 0 (just to have something done on time) and then on Wednesday to submit an amended report with the real information. Would this be ok with the administration?
