I was backed into last week in Oklahoma. Have all his insurance info, got it patched up enough to drive home. Looks like 2 weeks off to be repaired. My company self insures and says IF I get down time payment it will be $150 a day and this is industry standard. Any body have any experiences with this? If so what did you get for downtime?
thanks.

When I was backed into by a yard dog, I got my full revenue for every day missed (I was leased on to a mega carrier, at the time).
Your carrier is lying to you. If that's your truck. Industry standard is whatever revenue you lost during that time (you can factor out your fuel, but your profit and general weekly expenses still figure on a per day basis).rollin coal and Elroythekid Thank this. -
His insurance company will be footing the bill. You might have to lean on them a bit, but they at least will pay you lost revenue minus fuel. I'd try to get the whole lost revenue. I totaled my car a couple months ago and my insurance company paid me for the load I missed without hesitation. They even paid me faster than Landstar would have! You need to get your own physical damage insurance if that's possible up there. Your company's policy is crap and they are only looking out for themselves as you found it with your Pete.
Elroythekid Thanks this. -
If your truck is out of service due to someone elses hitting it, rent another tractor and have them pay the main rental fee, and you pay the fuel and mileage.
Elroythekid and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
Yep, if you are looking at body work it will be down 2 weeks at least. They should supply you with a rental. It's much cheaper on their end than paying you lost earnings.
Why is your company involved? Is this a lease and they are dealing with the other party?Elroythekid Thanks this. -
My company self insures so they pay the bill and then go after the other guys insurance to pay them?? When my last truck burnt I was off
10 weeks they took that long to cut me a cheque and no downtime. I can't afford it again. -
I would push for a loaner or Ryder rental.
-
When offered the $150 a day I did.

elroy, you have a recipe for disaster. the first time should have been the last time. get your physical damage somewhere else.
anyone that is self insured is going to look out for themselves first. -
That requires a new company, which I am looking at hard.
