I will not respond to some of the negative responses I have been getting. Everything manufactured in this country goes on a truck. If they could do away with the owner operator they would. Please understand that cheap freight does not start with the shipper, it starts with the next guy, The Brokers. They bid the freight so low, assuring the shipper they can move their freight because there is always a driver that will take it. (Laymens Terms - We can find a stooge to haul this freight.)
LOL, the highlight of my day calling a broker (Broker: A kid who thinks averaging $1.22 per mile is good enough.) and they tell me what good money is to run my truck. Okay guy's, (Those with an open mind) How many brokers own a truck? Answer: None. Brokers come from home every day and minipulate the logistic system with no responsibility, maintanance, or overhead to speak of, to see how much more money they can take from each load, not only do they manipulate the system, they manipulate each other. (At least a driver will stand with another driver.) There is a lot of money in brokering, why do you think these big trucking companies are opening up their own brokerage houses all over the country, they make more money brokering than they do running their trucks. I am offended by how they will not put cheap freight on their trucks, but know they can count on a O/O to run their freight for 1/3 or even half off of what they will haul for. (Trucking companies back dooring truckers.) Think of it this way, they are not in business because they break even by giving you the best rate, or my favorite, "Okay but I'm losing money on this one", and last but not least, "I'm all in at $00.00". Kinda ironic huh?

Drivers, be fair, but get what you deserve, You can stay home and make nothing.

Live in a pretty small world, don't you? When you are in Cut Bank, Montana and are trying to load to anywhere, with whatever type trailer, let me know about the high rates you find.
    Time for a reality check.
BTW, not everything manufactured, in this country, goes by truck. Many manufacturers have rail facilities and some even set along the banks of major waterways and have docks to tie up barges.

Everything that is manufactured in this country spends some time on a truck.. Everything.. Rail yards don't go to store.. Shipping lanes don't either.. Raw materials are trucked at some point about 85% of the time.. but yes you are right when it boils down to it.. You will be pulling some cheap freight in dead zones or sitting and losing money in a truckstop.. I ran with an ole boy that sat in Seattle for a week waiting on his dream load.. I took the load he turned down paying 1.76 a mile.. he wanted 2 - 2.50.. By the time it was all said and done I made about a grand more than him that week, but that was a while back.. Good luck

Will you pull it in a box? Will you pull it with a fox?

I will not pull it in a box. I will not pull it with a fox.
I do not care who thinks it's great. I do not and will not pull cheap freight.

Not everything manufactured, in this country, gets sold in stores. Much of it is B2B and can go by rail or water, with no truck involved.
