another day done....

well today was uneventful...spent the night at a plaza on 80 in ohio
got to walcott and decided now was a good time to get that tire replaced...ran me $172 to have a used steer tire put on the trailer
did some wish i had the money shoppin....lol
way to much chrome at that place
I even had enuff time there to adjust all my brakes
speaking of brakes the trailer ABS does work now....i hooked up the light and found a loose connection and now it works....kinda wierd how it worked out
anywho...today was a spendy one for fuel...i boycotted fuel yesterday so this morning i put in 168 gallons ( i ran just shy of 1100 miles on that b4 i got really skared) and then this evening i put in another 100 gallons....so i got 6.8 mpg today with a headwind...god i love this truck
im hoping to be in medford saterday and have time to reset

have a safe trip everyone

Bright red T6 with a 3406E KITTY that will run, but likes the fuel when it does. At the MPGs he is getting he is obviously staying below 65. In a hurry I've run across NE at 75 into the wind, it would hold cruise most of the time, but get about 4.8 MPG or so. Not good.

Bronc that shows what a mechanic can do. Now I am kicking myself that it was that easy to get the ABS going, and I drove it 4 plus yrs without it. I'm glad they are working for you now.

one more day down

anouther one in the books folks..
ran from aurara NE to evanston WY today in a hellacis head wind....still got 6.7 mpg runnin 68 mph.....so there brickman ( low, long and heavy load)
the sleeper is about a foot an a half taller than the highest point on the load which helps alot i think
yeah its a good lookin T600...as for the t660....i think all they did was change the hood/headlight alittle and some facia...other than that it still looks the same so i assume it'd be a good mileage truck... i did catch one on the radio yesterday ....he just picked it up so didnt know how good the mileage really was....did say he liked the inside more than the t6 though
anouther boring day.... i did see a jb and 2 werner flatbeds though....they were headed east so it didnt scare me too much...lol
1 thing i have noticed in my short time as a o/o...the price differnce in fuel
$2.91 here in wyoming...but i paid $2.52 in gary indiana the other day....its cheaper in the middle of the country than on the east or west....just something i thought was wierd
just a good reason to be calling ahead and getting the best deal with our cost + fuel program they have here huh...i saved $.11 per gallon here in wy

fuel

Indiana and Wy fuel has always been cheaper at the pupm you make it up in fuel tax though becuase of the ton milage tax they use on the ifta so watch where you buy fuel for tax purposes. If they are paying your fuel tax no problem but if its up to you to pay your fuel taxes get a list of the state taxs and use it to buy your fuel you will save money in the long run if you use the charts and by in the states that charge more tax and give you back over buy credit to off set the ones that give you no credit back. Just a tip from past experiance. I will get a list if i can find it still and post it for you if you like but look on the web at fuel tax rates and OOIDA used to have good article on it on there web site.

WY doesn't charge ton mile, just a low tax mile tax period. There was some talk this spring of raising that, dunno if it happened then or not. IN will screw you on tax because you pay fuel tax at the pump, but they only credit you back part of it when you cross state lines.

He'll figure out the tax issue soon enough. Basicly you pay it one way or another.

My t800 with the c15 runs at 4.6mpg no matter what I do with it. Mainly because of the 10 speed and 3:90 rear ends. It is maxed out in rpm at 76mph. The BEST I have done with it is.5.25 at 58mph, empty in IL.
Mose reasons for the poor fuel milage is the flat top sleeper and the long wheelbase that we need for the medical scanners. It kills me when I pull a van though. I pulled an MRi west through WY with a strng head wind and runing flat out at 76/77mph and my fuel milage droped to 3.8mpg

Boss aked me if I wanted to buy this truck and I laughed at him.

yup

brickman can verify all this.....
3406E cat set at 435 hp, 13 spd tranny an 3.55 rears
stand up double bunk sleeper
at 65mph im runnin about 1400 rpm
see....older aint bad at all, even better ..my payments are way smaller

now for the new...
utah an nevada were hard on my truck today....ran 595 miles...put in 90 gallons of fuel so my mileage was 6.61 mpg
if i was to slow down alittle bit to say 63 like brickman said to id be gettin above 7 im sure
i about had a nevada hi-po for a hood ordamont...came around a blind corner at 70 mph on I80 and there he was...in the middle of the drivin lane wavin his arms....i slowed down an got over fast enuff to avoid him.
but they stopped all west bound traffic...had about a 15 mile backup of traffic for a small... i repeat small grass fire

other than that nothin good for today...will be in medford by noon tomorrow to reset and deliever

im finding out more every day exactly how hard it is to go from a driver who sees nothing but miles as money to an owner who sees ecomomy savings....in the end it doesnt matter how slow i drive....i always have more than enuff time to make it
now if i could just get my right foot to realize it needs to lighten up

whatever happened to drivers warning each other on the cb about bears????
i went by 14 today an never heard a peep.............
