Roger that. After reading many of your posts, I respect what you have to say and I will treat that info like gold. Thanks for the heads-up, Brickman.

I see they are based about 10 miles from my house. I've developed a motto..."Never go TO Denver, just go THROUGH Denver." However, if LMC has some good loads in the area, I could adjust my routine. Traditionally, I have run coast-to-coast, taking loads that bring me through the house. In doing this, I can run coast-to-coast, and still be home every week to reset my logbook.

if you are ever sittin in medford oregon i do not reccomend doin your grocery shopping at food for less....that store is downright confusing and the poeple who work there have no idea where the can openers are(took me 2 hours to find one)

other than that i guess my first settlement will be $1489 and some change...i dont know why its so low...will inform when i get the details monday nite. but i think it has to do with my reserve account an the 13% thing....if i remember right they try to take as much of it as they can as fast as they can
i guess its a good thing i got a decent paying load
o yeah....my 1st payments are due monday so....there goes a whoppin $900, $865 for the truck an trailer + $45 for the other 5k ive borrowed
and my plates are in missoula, just hafta go get them

your post and just a suggestion

Hey Broncrider,
I am a published author of christian fiction novels, a retired sheriff, and part time trucker now. I would like to make the following suggestion to you. Your fervent excitement of writing these post to relay to others has by fate so to say made you now a writer of blogs. You just might find that later down the road you've come to enjoy this side hobbie of such. Now here is the free advice. Copy and paste and save all the entries your making into a word doc. like Microsoft word or Corel word perfect.. then cut and paste it all into one larger document. When you feel your journey is finished transfer it to a PDF file in adobe. Save that to disc. Take the disc to printer and publish your experiences in book format with a nice big pic of your rig on the front. Believe me what your writing is interesting and as time goes by " A truckers diary of the road." would sell to all the wanna be Owner Operators. 1. because it's factual and written in real time, and 2. because it would be consider a self help tool in marketing area.
Bless you in your continued endeavors. If you publish, send me a copy at my addy.

Broncrider...this is a GREAT play-by-play on your new venture. Please keep it up!

A little info on me: I am a brand spankin' new BCO for Landstar. I have my own truck and trailer. The tractor is on old '93 volvo, and the trailer is a '98 48 foot Transcraft flatbed. I pulled my first load for Landstar on 5-8-07, and I'm now on my 3rd load. I live in Loveland, CO. My first load after orientation was from Denver to Dallas, then I went from Dallas to Medford, OR, and now I'm on a load from Oakland, CA to Newark, NJ.

I couldn't be happier with Landstar...I am very pleased, but I won't go into detail in this thread...I don't want to hijack a good thing

Anyhow, keep it up, Broncrider. Your play-by-play is kind of like watching a good movie or reading a good book...we want to know what happens next!
I pm'd you

Yeah. I got your PM and spent 20 minutes typing out a lengthy reply, but when I submitted it, I lost it all and was told that I hadn't accumulated enough posts to PM. So I tried the e-mail link, and got the same results.

I started a new thread with the answers. I don't want to hijack this thread anymore than I already have.

The reason for the rule is to slow down recruiters that could sign up, shoot out a bunch of unwanted PMs and then leave never to be seen again. I know it sucks, but the admin did that to try and benefit the members. If you make the effort to achieve 20 posts you probably are not a recruiter or a spammer.

the worst thing in california is the california's

well i delievered today in medford, I followed the recievers instructions to a T and went strait to boise cascade....not the reciever
after a few phone calls and 2 new sets of directions i set out
finally got there and was done 30 minettes later....so off i head to the pilot to use thier trip pac box
i call central and they say they need a fax # to send me the updated insurance card...not a problem, pilot has one...cost me $3
then i get to talk to my dispatcher, nothin on the board but they r lookin
2 hours later i call back....nothin thats for sure...so i say ok but remember my 14 has already started...
get a call back with a , in spanish, el cheapo loado, $1.32/mile with everything included , but hey id be runnin right? so i take it and off to cave junction i go.
now dont ask me how but i thought i heard this load was gonna be 37k lbs
so i finally get there an the dude on the forklift gets all huffy when i tell him that theres no way in hades i can put 50k on the trailer
now im starting to wonder just what kinda hole i dug myself into
anyways...after an hour of diddling around and scaling...he deciedes i can put anouther 3k on....alright i got the room....i did not know you could rock a truck that hard and not break anything, man he was ruff
so i finally through all my straps and rewiegh just to be sure my axle wieghts are right and head off to the office to get my bill of lading
i ask where do you want me to tarp at since alot of these lumber outfits are kinda picky
she says anywhere as long as yer not in the way....way cool
now to wrap this ugly lookin stack...2 more hours and im done...yippie for me
so now im hot, sweaty and im sure i dont smell to purdy but i gotta go if i want to deliever thursday, so down the road i go, ill do a feild shower when i stop, real shower after i fuel

now brickman if you get a call wensday by someone "claiming" to have seen your truck complete with tarps that SAY brickman on them i know nothing about it......now where is that spray paint????( yes i forgot)

anyway heres the load info...they must have been hurtin for a load as its a broker load and as a general rule davis does not use brokers

1896 miles = $1996.05
fuel surcharge = $495.26....alittle low i think
tarp pay = $25.....WTF is this???

anyway cave junction or to pella ia, planning to deliever on thursday am

That set of tarps will make a man out of you. Thats for sure, I never used them the entire time I was running for Landstar.

How are you going east? on I80? If so I can tell really easy how to get to the Wal Mart in Laramie, or another large one in NE thats real easy to get to. That one always has so many trucks parked at it, that my wife and I took to calling it the Wal Mart truck stop.
