I worked for Doty Bros. when I was in construction and Pierce Doty one of the founders would only buy equipment with cash. That continued with Floyd and John Doty and I can remember driving some old stuff that was junk but they had a Bucyrus bucket trencher (I know, not a truck, but it was built back in the days when if it broke down, a blacksmith or even a labor could fix it) that was from the 30's, probably WPA or TVA equipment and it still ran and you could get a couple miles a day with it.

| Lets take a 3406E or a C-15 pre acert for example. An O/O could buy one of these take care of it with good maintenance, didn't abuse it and with a little luck push past 1 million miles before doing a major overhaul. Same engine abused with shoddy maintenance might not make 500,000. I've heard of engines with 1.3 million on them with nothing more than rods and main bearings replace as far as "major" engine work.

I assure you my truck has in excess of 4 million miles. it is an 86 and it was a coast to coast car hauler for years, ran otr flatbed for many more years then the last 6 years it has ran the harvests only in FL. there is no life span as long as you keep fixing it. |

| Yeah butt you would be able to take his rims too. Reason his truck costs more is that the tires are good. lmao
