I always tell people that think otherwise that they are staying in business by consuming their asset.
When its consumed there is nothing left.

Not too many of those ratty trucks in Long Beach... Wonder why?

Go ahead O/O's keep complaining about CARB but tell me how else we are going to run the messcans and their 30 year old freightliners out of town? Watch out east coast they're moving out of California. Guess where they're going.

The state of California has been buying those trucks for them (or at least a big chunk of the money) and if you look at who is driving them you will find that most don't speak English.

    Carl Moyer program......

    Look it up

IIRC the V.I.P. is for trucks that DON'T participate in Port or Rail Drayage

that old ratty truck will eventually need to be replace. sure. but in the meantime. it's free and clear of payments. therefore can haul cheaper.

if i owned my truck. and had my own authority. i could haul for $1 all day long. all week long. and all year. and still make the same .32 cents a company driver makes. if i wanted to factor in a savings account for maintanance. then it would be bumped to $1.25.

but when you add the complete expense package. $1.50 would be my lowest. IF i owned my truck and trailer and ran my own authority. AND, .lived on the east side of the country where houses are CHEAP.
