Hi, I currently operate out of Texas and just run a few surrounding states but fixing to move to Idaho. My question has to do with anyone that runs the full fiberglass fenders or the double hump fenders. I was wondering if there are issues with chaining these up due to the tightness or lack thereof of space. Having my truck repainted and I'm gonna put some full fenders on it. But don't want to put something on there that won't work in snow country. Thanks.

You can find out exactly how hard it is to put chains on a truck with fenders there in Texas. I think you will find it impossible. And when you lose a chain or a cross link, it will chew a hole in the fender before you know what happened. The only way to do both is with a set of On Spots, the automatic chains that bolt to the axle and spin a chain under the wheel. About $2500 per axle.

I was afraid of that. Won't have my chains till I pick up my trailer in Oregon next month. Just gotta decide on the type of fenders to put on and didn't want to make a huge mistake.

If your going to go with fenders go with stainless instead of fiberglass. Least with stainless when a cross link goes you get some scrap metal money. But either way chains and fenders don't mix want fenders stay out of the chain nazzi states.

Thanks for the input guys. I've ran full fenders for over 20 years. Keeps the rock throwing down and if the road is messy, keeps the mud and grime down. I've always run stainless or aluminum fenders. Not a fan of the crazy chain laws, but I will be running back and forth from the NW to Texas every two weeks, so unless I can avoid the mountain passes without going 500 miles out of the way I'm gonna have to be ready to use them.

Look into "Magnum" half fenders. They are made in canada and the fender mounting bracket at the front of the fender is the chain hanger as well. Made from checker plate. Google magnum trailer and equipment abbotsford BC Canada.
