I really hate asking, see enough threads like this...but, here goes: '07 387 Pete, C15 435 hp, 9 speed, 3.55 vs. '07 FL Columbia, 14.0 Detroit 490 hp, 10 speed, 3.58 vs. '06 Century, 14.0 Detroit 450 hp, 10 speed, 3.58. Miles are comparable, cost is somewhat comparable, Columbia is $3,000 more; all have 1 year/100,000 mile warranties (not sure what those include yet). There is a very similar 387 Pete that has an APU, about $8,000 more, and does NOT appear to have a warranty...otherwise, very similar as well. Actually looking at the 3 with the warranty because of the warranty..a lot of FL especially around the same type, price, mileage, but the warranty (if it's decent) would be nice. Really not familiar with Cats...but think it will be one of these 3 (or 4) or, possibly another Volvo. Dry van, spot freight, try to keep the weight down, looking for one that I can make the most money with (meaning which one will cost less to operate). Thanks...

C15 is worst with 9 speed, even if converted to 13, the o7 c15 is not going to have the reputation for mpg that the Detroit's will. between them go with the cleaner one, as they are the same truck, with a different hood and dash.
tiny edge to the century as it is slightly less looked at as a fleet truck.

get the one with the most gauges on dash, the older they get the more you have to watch them!

considering that every 07 i've evern seen has the worst fuel mileage in teh history of trucking.

07 - 09 would be my least favorable years.

I would go with the 07 columbia... I have 06 c15 cat and 07 detroit.. detroit gets about 6.1 with out an egr tuner on it and about 6.9 since I put it on... The c15 gets about 5.7.. and that is being thrown out of a plane.. that is about all I can get out of it... one driver got 6.2 but he drove 55 mph everywhere.. I will never own another cat.. unless they go back to the 3406's.. which they won't

I would look at the century. Get it checked out by a mechanic you trust.

stay away from the cat. Of the others, F#$% the warranty, its useless. get an ecm report, and do a rig-dig on them. If u still like them both, the columbia has more resale. Either case, put some moey in it up front to make it profitable again. New coolant, gearbox oil change, Overead set, CAC test, New EGR valve, New engine wiring harness, and if its the '07, a new aftertreatment injector, delta-p sensors, and a DOC / DPF cleaning if it has one. Used trucks of this age generally only get sold because their profitibility has fallen off because of aging components. Always assume this when buying a used truck, invest in it up front, and use it to make money instead of siting somewhere, loosing revenue, trying to make warranty claims.

    just some thaughts,... Rawze

The Columbia is the highest mpg truck ever built before DPF came out. I'd go with the columbia. (the century isnt bad) Detroits are beautiful engines and I hate cats.

I wished the C15 was in one of the Frieghtliners than the Detroits they have. I am not a fan of Detroits so I would walk away from them, yet I not much fan of the Petes in making money wise, I personally never made money driving a Pete and I was buying one at one time and No money it got repo. The Cat engine in a Freight shaker was a good combo for me when I was leasing a truck, but not listed in your choices. So I would say keep looking

Do not get me wrong now, I love the looks of Petes but I never had any luck driving them.

Don't put any value in an aftermarket warranty. They're good for wiping your rear end with and that's about it.
