Will I as a single truck outfit be required to use an EOBR?
Personally I cant stand them. I like the old Qualcomm's that just allowed communication, but we have far more options for that today.
If I dont have to use one now, how long will I have before the screw me over?

the e-log is a benefit. if you are leased to a company. then it is up to them. I think you only have to have a GPSS unit on your truck to track it. if you have a quallcomm installed now. then that qualifies. my personal experience with e-log. I gained up to 8 extra hours a week. the e-log on board sticker on the out side of the truck. pretty much puts a stop to pesky log book write up and inspections. the right e-log will keep perfect track of your hours in every way. depending on where you run. does depend on how many miles you can drive. in most cases. drivers are getting more miles with it. the down side is: in the northeast or city/ multi stop loads. your miles do dip a bit. but, it's not enough to really ##### about.
the csa score depends on weather you have to have it or not. I think they are hesitant about it. over the fact that they are catching companies harassing drivers. so i think they are working on a way to put an end to it. and at the same time bring the e-log in completely. -
op, the law congress passed requires them no later than mid 2015, but you can expect that date to be pushed back by up to a couple years because the fmcsa has to draft the regulation, get it to pass all the court challenges that will be brought against whatever they write up, and then pushed through with a mandated implementation date.123456 Thanks this. -
here's what i think is going to happen. disbatchers or people that work in direct contact of drivers. are going to be required to be d.o.t. certified with a d.o.t number that can make them subject to a d.o.t investigation. and possible have to certifaction suspended and put them out of trucking for the most part. based on the disbatchers mistakes or bad habits or misconduct during an investigation. no i don't think they will ever convict a disbatcher from a death related accident. but being able to prevent the accident before it's an accident. and put the people out with no way back based on the own bad work habits or work pratices. will in alot of ways solve issues. and show the rest that being put out of your carrer field parmantly can happen. will straiten out alot of problems.
