I was listening to xm radio the other day. Kevin was telling a caller you don't need experience as a driver to make it in trucking. He told the caller he can take someone with less than a month of driving and make him or her a successful owner op. He was saying that its more business minded , than driving experience... What are your thoughts?

Buy his books, dvd's, and any other product he ###### out and of course you will be a success. Just send him your check and ask him.

I can see this is going to get waaaayyy off topic. I can see some truth in it. Driving is the easy part, its the business side that's hard.

Yeah I gotta say when I first listened to him a few years ago he was refreshing, but lately I'm finding it's all sponsers and what he can sell you. To each his own I guess nobody's forcing me to listen, just sayin'.

Being a successful o/o means being a very good driver. Kevin doesn't know what he's talking about. Yeah, you have to be a good businessman. But your business is being a darned good driver. And that's why I and many others say "LEARN YOUR INDUSTRY" before getting into the O\O game.

in reality he is somewhat right. being a driver and a successful owner /op are in fact two different things. many guys can be good , safe, hard , successful drivers. but in order to be a successful owner /op you have to have a good business sense.

from that standpoint he is right. so if someone has already or has an aptitude to learn business sense he is way ahead in the owner /op game.

cause many can be taught to be very good drivers, but out of the same pool of very good drivers even less will make successful owner ops.

I can see where he is coming from, but it could be worded a whole lot differently.

and by the way I listened to the same show, I would rather listen to his show than that goofy freewheeling from 10 am to 1pm, that's a useless 3 hours

Sounds like a Monday Morning Quarterback or political pundit. "Just do everything I say, you'll be successful" Not successful? You must not have followed their advise properly or completely.

I think Kevin has some good ideas but he goes overboard and leads you into the products he peddles.

I agree with joseph I miss Evan. When he left I stopped listening to that station on a regular basis.
