EZpass discount applies to any account holder, not just cars. Same with FL Sunpass. In fact, PA tolls are set to increase on Jan 5. Cash tolls up 12%, EZpass tolls up only 2%. The discount is nothing to sneeze at if you're not in a postion to dodge the toll altogether.

For the heck of it, I ran a sample trip on the toll calculator Breezewood to Pittsburg. 5-axle class 7 (62-80k) 105 miles. $65.45 cash, $46.91 EZpass. Of course I'd only take that particular trip if I was getting big bucks on the load and also under schedule pressure. Otherwise a short trip on the TP to Bedford and up to US-22 instead.

We got the IPass for our truck a few months ago. Haven't bothered with any of the others since we don't run those toll roads anyway. If they become part of our normal route at any point, then they will get added. I have found the Oklahoma toll road is a much smoother ride than 69 is, but we haven't been that way in quite awhile, and only ran it once just to check it out.

Good to know. Just ran IN. & they are full fare regardless crossing. http://www.ezpassin.com/5axles/
The last two trips across OH have exited at 151 & would have saved $5.75 each trip. http://www.ohioturnpike.org/e-zpass/toll-rates/

PA is a ....they make me say bad words. As soon as you cross the state line they have their hand out for $20+ & as you mentioned going up Jan 5.

Toll roads to me are the utter & absolute failure of politicians to manage funds properly & the entire idea of tolls boils my blood.
But thanks for the info, will buy one next trip out.

OK Pikepass does have discounts for having the Pikepass. It can take a couple of days for some of the transponder pings to show up on your account. Turner Turnpike is the worst for this one. (I-44, Tulsa to OKC). 5% discounts add up over time.

I had mine on the panel in front of my headliner dead centered. Now it sits on the dash, as some booths require it scan for the Johnny bar to go up- n. Got tired of pulling the Velcro apart.

I don't have a big visor, but I did on a previous truck. I always put the transponders in the lower windshield in the middle and they work fine. Going a little bit slower into the booths with a gate or low roofs helps as well.
