I need some advice i have a 2001 w900l with 1,222,000 miles or so. It was reebuilt at about 600,000. I was driving over the road for a few years and quit went to hauling logs local in alabama but it just doesnt seem to be consistent enough and ive done alot of body damage to my truck. I spent all the money i had saved up fixing rocker arms, radiator, jake brakes, tires and kingpins. Was right around 15k when all said and done. Now i have nothing left. Should i risk going back on road and hope nothing breaks down in first cpl months or try and stay logging and a few thousand. When we work i net about 2500 a week. But cant keep living on hopes and dreams that we are working next day. I do have a trailer and authority. But my monthly bills are close to 3600. No truck payment and no trailer. And my credit isnt to good that if something major happened i couldnt get loan to fix truck

That is a common problem. Is the grass really greener on the other side ?
There are hundreds of log trucks in my area, and they are nearly all starving to death, so I feel your pain. Most are $ 3.25 / 3.50 a loaded mile, pulling out of the woods. Tough on equipment. Some have tried OTR, and it did not suit them.
Trucks will always break down , and at the worst time.
I would probably stick with logging for a little while longer. This time of year ain't the best to OTR, but maybe by the time it warms up you could save a few bucks from hauling sticks.
Local containers maybe ?Not a great rate, but usually plenty of work.
    Good luck, whatever.

Agreed, last thing you need is a major failure away from local sources with no backing. I'd stay put or try a side shift into something else local if sticks don't hold up but based on your description I don't think I'd head out and risk a major failure. Depending on what happens you could end up leaving the truck where it is and selling it for parts.

25 a week is 10 k to the house and with bills of 36 there's no reason you can't stash some green.

    good luck.

Go otr. You've been out there and you know how to work it. Forget containers crap. If you break down a mile from home may not be as bad as breaking down away but a break down would break you now regardless, so dont fade into the night. Light up the b***ch
My bills are 7 grand a month and I just put over 10 grand on my truck. You have to believe you will succeed and that you have the power to overcome whatever adversity.

    Good luck driver

You're netting $2500/week ? Do you have a cocaine problem or something ?

How much are you really netting a week then ? You've been doing this log hauling long enough to know and I'm sure you keep records right ?
