So I've talked a lot about insurance lately post reading about how there getting high quotes, real good friend of mine his doubled and even got a price from my guy. Today I received my progressive renewal and wow I was told it was going up but didn't think that much, I pay $5,600 a year now 1mil $100,k cargo one truck two trailers new price......
$29,860....yes almost $30,k one truck one driver no tickets clean driving record why don't they just drop me instead of giving a crazy price like that.
If they want to drive O/O out of trucking this is a good start with that and health care and the FMCSA pushing for EOBRs are the good times really over for good. BTW I did get a price from someone else at $9,400 a year.
Are the good times really over for good?

From the ten calls I made today everyone said almost the same thing progressive entered the market and under priced everyone making others cut there prices to keep people now progressive is losing their rear and raising prices to recoup money and others are doing the same. I was told the days of policies under $8,500 a year are gone.

freight Rates CANNOT accomodate insurance rates like that............$20k seems unheard of.

Progressive priced aggressively and also nearly cornered the market on new O/O's. Maybe that was their strategy, now that new O/O's have little choice but to go to them they are turning the screws. Not unlike new drivers who must go to Swift or Schneider for that precious 2 years of OTR experience, also an insurance gimmick.
I can't believe people are worried about the government, when the insurance companies are the ones pulling our strings. I don't even know how you can even really call it insurance anymore when the last thing you ever want to do is file a claim, and filing a claim will probably put you out of business anyway. How is that insurance ?ziggity, Jokingypsy, 281ric and 5 others Thank this. -
Simple answer,,, Insurance companies USED to put their customers (us) FIRST....
Now the Officers of the companies cant settle for less than their high 6 figures due to them annualy.........If thier bottom line doesn't favor them.....Your rate goes up and if you have clkaims..They simply drop you.
Its Truly pathetic way to do business...But this country has become capitolism crazed!! EVERYONE trying to hurt otherstruckman29801, Boardhauler, ziggity and 1 other person Thank this. -
