Insurance ?

Currently leased to a company and have their insurance. Thinking of getting my own insurance & my own authority and I've just gotten a couple of companies from the internet. I know it will be high, had my CDL for 1 1/2 years with a clean record. I need to get away from the company I am leased to because they are robbing me blind. I'm in Florida, are there any links to look at to obtain own authority?
Thanks so much.

Yes, this definitely a great forum. I've lurked for over a year now, my husband is the truck driver. We own our truck & trailer and he's leased on with a company that doesn't pay well at all.
We have friends that own their own trucks too, but I thought I would try to educate myself on these boards.
Thanks so much for the kind words.

You are right! I did the prequalification at their site and came out to $162. a month, and if I were leased to Landstar it would have been $127. a month. Now that was for my 2004 FL Classic. Pretty good.

I'm in a pickle. Since I have less than a year of current experience I'm having a tough time getting interstate coverage. BTW, I'm in Florida. I'm going to contact all of the providers mentioned in this thread. Any other suggestions will be very welcome!

near as I can tell they only offer the insurances you don't have to have. I loked under products and they list physical damage, non trucking liability, occupational accident and passenger ins.
leads me to believe it's a shady operation and good luck getting them to pay anything

I spoke to several independent agents yesterday and they all said the same thing - Progressive is the only one who is insuring startups without 2 years of recent experience. It is amazing that 10 years is worthless if it's more than 3 years old. Ohhhh, and the Progressive coverage is for a 500 mile radius only... anyone looking for a sharp '05 379 for a good price???
