| I'm not in Cali.............actually I'm not anywhere. I came to South America last year with the intention of staying a couple of years........now I want to come back. So, I'm not bound as to where I go. I sort of like the idea of not having a home base at all. Buy a newish truck and rest my head wherever it happens to be parked. No need to deadhead anywhere. Go from one load to the next. Just wait wherever, until the right stuff comes along. If I was to base anywhere, I think I would like to try out West or mid West........ |

| i apoligize......i must have mixed you up with someone else...once again i apoligize your looking to go o/o strait outta the box right? i might have an idea or two who to call |
| |||
| Yes.straight out of the box...........they can send me anywhere.....to do anything..........and from there to anywhere else........no need to return " home " at any time. I prefer to work 7 days, but I understand this is not possible. I also would like to earn some money..........but if that takes some time.....that's ok...........and if it is not a lot.....that's ok.........but If I was setting the rate.........it would be top rate, I'll sit still, rather than do cheapo........just on principle. |

| the thing I always liked about reefer is you get to move around seasonally. Right now onions and mellons are running in FL, GA, TX. and later on it will be real hot in CA and AZ. when is it the west coast picks up so much? I've been out so long I forget. Anyways, there is a few weeks that the produce is pays double the normal rates out of the west. we used to deadhead out from MI it paid so well. of course that was with $.85 fuel. you get aplles and seafood out of the northwest although I havn't done much there. I just found out the farm I hauled collar greens out of Tifton GA about 8 months of the year is now a sod farm, that sucks |

| After talking to about 20 insurance companies over the last few days. I can guarantee you that NOBODY will insure anyone near the age of 21 without 2 years of OTR experience. *Progressive does if you stay within 500 miles of home but is VERY costly* Hopefully the contact englewood provided will pan out and he can sneak him in under the nose. We can only hope! If not, off to college he goes. Which honestly wouldn't break my heart. I would much rather see a college degree than a CDL. |

| Good luck Comp. I too hope my son would go the college route but if his heart is to follow his dad I wouldn't mind that either.

| Problem obtaining insurance I have a situation..... no recent class "A" experience. Drove a TT 10 years ago, since then tour bus and straight only. Went out and got my own authority and ready to buy a truck and even took a refresher course at a CDL school but only Progressive (so far) is willing to insure me and they have a 500 mile radius which ain't gonna work. I'll keep looking but I'm not real confident at this point. I really want to go independent so going to work for someone else is not an option ( at my age). Boy am I glad I didn't buy a truck 1st. I never saw this coming. I could drive it to the grocery store but wouldn't be able to haul cargo. |
