Driver pay is too low. For $.35, why go O/O?

Kinda high on scales, truck wash (unless you're compulsive, that's a lot of hours sitting in line)
Maintenance - too high, unless you have a critical breakdown: hopefully, not every year.
One thing you forgot - taxes. Big number.
Insurance - run a higher deductible, shrink the number? Includes health? Maybe a little low.
    Truck payment/financing?
    Bookkeeping?
    Communication?
Food, room, clothing, tools & supplies, miscellaneous? Add something noticeable.

lets assume his truck/trailer is paid off

Insurance At $10,000 better include occ-acc OR a reasonable health plan

you'll never use that much in scales

I would Go $5,000 in Tolls if you are operating the North central Region or northeast

Everything else seems pretty close ....IRP can be as high as $3,000 But your first year they will estimate miles for you

Put away 25% of your net earnings away every week.....You should get a refund back if you have dependents

Maintenance is KEY here....TAKE CARE OF YOUR TRUCK......Do Not sacrifice ANYTHING when it comes to your truck....If you do, You wont be around long

You dont need 3 loadboards for a 1 truck operation......1 should do, (They all basically have the same freight anyway)

Work on securing your own outbound freight

Wasnt sure what to pay myself, figured I would shoot low and let the business account build, at least for a while..not compulsive on keeping truck clean on the outside, once every month or 3, truck and trailer..so maybe $300-350.. I wasn't sure how much to guesstimate for taxes..I'm figuring I should be able to get insurance cheaper but I have heard people saying from 6-12k..I will definetly elect for higher deductible..yep forgot cpa/bookkeeping..will probablly pay cash for truck/trailer..thanks for the reply..and you think the other numbers were pretty close?

okay hopefully I am over estimating insurance..I only have 3 years driving experience, all as a company driver. Will knock down my scales and up my tolls in my figures. Will figure almost double for irp..and definetly will keep up on maint..I appreciate the reply.

How many loadboards do you use? Do you have additional services with them? Has it been worth spending that much?

How are you getting 80000 a year in fuel....and 1500 a year in scales...are you paying yourself .35 cents a mile or a driver? And do you have a trailer or do you rent? And what kind of trailer

I am currently a company driver and am doing some final research before making the switch to owner operator with my own authority. I will probably buy my truck/trailer outright but could lease..i will be getting a dry van to start. I will be driving and paying myself..80k for fuel I figured like this..10,500 miles/mo x 12 = 126,000 miles ÷ 6 mpg x $3.8/gal...and 1500 for scales I figured 2-3 scales/week..just rough estimates.
