    I'm looking at a 2008 prostar 450hp cumm. Isx w/ 500,000 miles 13sp with apu for 42K and a 2009 cascadia with the DD15 450 Hp w/ 10 sp and 600,000 mi no Apu 47K and last 2009 Pete 387 cumm Isx 455 Hp w/ apu. And 620000 mi. For 50 k

I need a newer truck for Calif. I have to keep it under 50k. Just looking for thoughts on the trucks and or any suggestions. I know some dislike the ISX and some the DD15 but I think its a crap shoot with the emissions on them but cant buy a newer truck right now. I'm looking mainly at fuel mileage. The truck will pull a flat bed from Az to TX or PA then to northwest then back to AZ.

detroit gets better fuel mileage then isx. and is more reliable. FL would probably be more reliable then prostar. it's a crap shoot with prostars.

Of topic but needs to be said. There is another option: adjust your business plan so you no longer need to enter California. Rates out there are cheap anyway.

Spyder thanks for the advice but Cali. Has some good opportunity for me with a direct shipper Ive been working with. About 70% of the loads will have a back haul so more times than not I wont be looking for loads home.

If I had to pick one of the choices, I'd probably go Freightliner. Parts are cheap and readily available. However, a 2010 Volvo 780 is comparable to all those and rides like a caddy. Dd15 with the I-shift if you can find one or the 13 speeds are readily available.

New in the mix is a 2009 volvo. With a Cummings isx 450 Hp 13 spd 500K miles w apu 51K. Life time mph 7.3. And 8 new tires. Its definately the front runner. Wish it had the DD15 but haven't seen a Volvo with that in it yet.

Of those you mentioned you have the option to buy DON'T. Ca is going thru too many changes with CARB and those will not fit their projected plan. Other than that buy and don't go to CA. I no longer go to CA and the only thing I miss is my friends I have out there. when I bought my truck I noticed the wheel base first. I wanted to be able to pull flatbed and need the room for head ache rack. It is a 240 in WB. now have 6 door rack and room for other stuff. Pulled the skirting of the rear half and have storage boxes and apu in their place. Shop around and dont be in a hurry.
