It almost impossible to insure a new driver right out of school as a small company.

With out a 'training program' yes.

I went over this with my insurance. They said if I provided company training my premium would not go up.

In many cases, its not an issue of premium changes, Its that they flat out wont insure. Most training companies are self insured. If that's not the case with yours, what company do you use?

    Progressive.

I just called them last week about this very topic.

I'm looking to pick up a 2nd truck in the Spring and wanted to find out what their policy was for hiring a new driver.

Fedex Ground hasn't allowed contractors to pay drivers via 1099 for many years now. They stopped that back in 2010 or 2011 if I remember correctly. There's a part of our contract now that says we will use W2 employees and cover all taxes, workers comp/ work accident, etc.

Every contractor is different but most of them in my area offer decent health benefits and vacations and safety bonuses and all that.

Richter, I'm not recruiting through a post. I'm just adding to the conversation. I didn't mention pay or a phone number. I'm just making a point that I'm surprised at the low response to a good job.

And with 4,000+ post count, this is sounding like you're trying to once again stack your postSpam count.

    Ukumfe Thanks this.
