We also looked into Southern pride. They do run singles but was told it would be a lot of Boeing 777 engines from OH-to Boeing in Seattle. We haul cars terminal to terminal with POV's and also service auctions, dealers and new car ports. We do mostly CA-TX freight so it works out well. Ill never go back to a small sleeper again

Longhaul trucking takes big sleepers and takes steps with conestoga kits.

I called Southern Pride and got some basic info about running single. I still need to find out more about them. From what I have learned, they may be a good idea.

Currently I am leased to Schneider Bulk. Decent pay and they keep me busy. I have always enjoyed OD and a challenge.

Big sleepers miss a lot of good paying loads because they can't haul the weight. if they do open deck with the added weight if chains, binders and tarps..Steer tires are very costly, The front axle needs to be at minimum a 16,000 lb axle . Nothing is cheap with a big sleeper. You just save on motel bills.
I suggest you actually talk to some O/O's with the large sleepers and get it first hand. Also of the problems you might or I should say will encounter is your truck is too darned big to get into some customers with out taking a half a day. City runs will be nothing but a head ache with turns and narrow streets. . Why hot buy a regular sized truck, run it for a year or so, save your money, then have your truck redone to your liking. Kiev in KY does a great job. Stands behind his work. I regret I did not have my Century stretched 4 feet.

That's something the wife and I are discussing as well. I can get a really nice '08 W900 for a fair price and stretch it later on.

If you're buying a big sleeper, make sure the truck is CA compliant. I ran across a S/P driver the other day who was selling his truck to buy a new one to be compliant.

Is there a wheelbase limit for California?
