Never did my own filing before, but just got through doing my IFTA (No Problem) and then went to the KY page and it only ask me for my miles and not anything about gallons like the IFTA page does?
So does it matter if you fuel in KY when you run through it or not? I try to fuel in the states that are higher on taxes to ensure I don't have to pay, but am I missing something or does KY do their own thing?
Advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

IFTA and KYU are totally different Kentucky is a distance traveled mileage pay if you don't have any miles that quarter you just put 0 but you must file online ever quarter
maggard359 Thanks this. -
Bayou is correct. It's just a charge for passing thru. Fuel does not come into the equation. Ky is a bad state to buy fuel also you don't get full tax credit on ifta.

So if I am understanding right, it does not pay you to fuel in KY at all, no matter how many miles you run in it correct? As stated before I have never did any KY filing and did the online checking it and had 388 miles, and I believe it came up over 11.00.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!! -
You are correct. Be glad you don't live here and run it daily.

WOW, so glad to find this out as I was planning on buying fuel to offset this, but it will not help as in other states. THANKS!!

New York and New Mexico also have the weight distance tax.

Yeah it doesn't do anything for you in KY to buy fuel..

RTR,
In KY you have to file IFTA and what they call " Kentucky weight distance tax form" . They are different. One based on miles and gallons purchased and they other strictly on miles. Both are paid quarterly. One you file with IFTA and they other directly with the state and with the miles run and the check for the amount owed.
For example.
You drive 2000 miles in the quarter in Kentucky. You would owe 57.00 dollars on the Kentucky weight distance form
Hope this helps.
