These days the big money in advertising is based on targeted markets. Banners and billboards are nickel and dime advertising for local retailers. That and it was already mentioned,.. but imagine the risk if their logo is plastered all across your trailer and you are involved in an accident,.. fault or not,.. I know I wouldnt want my name associated with that kind of risk. Billboards and magazines are a much safer medium. Not only that,.. but on a busy interstate near a metro are,.. you can not provide more exposure than a 24/7 bill board that sees 100k+ cars pass it every day. Like it or not, you can only advertise within the HOS rules. And if you drive at night,.. who's going to see it? Out in the mid west? Maybe if you only did the north and south east, you might get similar exposure.

A big corporation worth billions would buy its own truck with its own driver and then broacast its own vision to areas (Markets) of their own choosing with much less risk than to pay someone with an older not so nice truck to advertise with. I mean,.. heels, designer dress, handbag,.. all look fantastic on a model paid to advertise these things. But when seen on a trailer trash over weight slob,.. well,.. not so much. Image is everything when advertising. Look at who advertises with cab companies,.. its not the big corporations. Its the local folks desperate to get their name out.

I'm not saying your idea is not with out merit. I think you could get some paid advertising on your trailer. But not the wall street checks that you seem to be searching for. I think if it were that easy, it would have been done already. The big name trucking companies would be the first to cash in on it if it were that easy. Small guys like us dont stand a chance.

If you are the suit and tie type of guy and you can do a good sales pitch,.. go give it a shot. I'm of the opinion that if you were,.. you would already be in marketing or advertising,.. not trucking.
