Well I was driving down the road, and trying to figre out how to be Entrepenurial, and make some extra stream of Revenue ?
I'm going to buy my own Trailer, and wanted to Lease out My Trailer, for Advertising.
The Only Problem is I don't know where to Start,as far as putting a Classified ad in a Publication....I don't now what kind of magazine,or Trade publication to place it in ?
And I don't know what woud be a Fair Price per Mile to ask for ? I was Thinking a $ 1 a Mile ? ( let me know if that's to much ? ).
I'm going by Deductive Reasoning,that a BIG Corporation wouldn't mind Paying a $ 1 a Mile for Cross-Country advertising !
I woud send them a E-mail,Verifying My Milage,or they can Track My Truck if they want ?
Furthermore,I want to know where to go to,to draw up a Contract with whoever,I Agree to do this ?
Should I ask for Up Front Deposit ( say 25% ),in case they try to Cheat me,or DELAY PAYING Monthly on Time ! Etc...Etc....
If anyone can Point me in the Right Direction ?,or has an Improvement on MY Idea ?
Let me know.....Keep on Truckin !
Why Not ? !

One outfit was doing it where you pay to instal clips on your/own 53 van type trailer and they hang a billboard type like food stores use on sides of CO. owned trailers that change with specials of the MO. pay is not 1$ per MI. it was mo. flat rate.
-
I dont see many companies coughing up $1 mi for advertising. Can easily rent a billboard on a major interstate for much less money.
-
I had a similar idea, but I haven't found any businesses willing to pay much more than the cost of the vinyl wrap ($3,000 on the cheap, $7,000+ for fairly involved graphics)...

Another problem is perceived liability. I had a contract hauling for a firm that made up-scale ' stuff ' that catered to upper class citizens. One of the salesmen had the idea to put advertising for their company on my trailers. The lawyers nixed the idea, with this thinking. Suppose a truck cuts a car off on the interstate, and the driver gets mad. All he can remember is the logo of the truck, and he will think badly of the product it represents. Remember the recent wreck in Jersey that showing the Wal-Mart truck that hit the bus ? That picture does not give Wal Mart a good advertisement.
Another point they raised was suppose a truck with their logo picked up at a competitors warehouse. Sometimes deals are made that need to be kept quiet.
Not saying I agree, just what happened in my case.
Not many companies would want their ads placed on a trailer they had little or no control over.POINTDEXTER Thanks this. -
I will do it for 50 cents per mile and will use zip to zip for mileage!! -
Next thing you know, you'd have people hauling freight literally for free if they could get $1 per mile for advertising ... Gotta turn those miles! lol
-
Well your Missing point......Yeah they can rent a Major Billboard Cheaper, but My Trailer woud get MORE Exposer !
Basically being a Moving Billboard around the Country !
And in my Opinion,Yes a $1 a Mile might sound like a Lot ? especially that I Drive around 140,000 Miles a Year !
But, $140,000 to a BIG Corporation, who's worh BILLINONS of Dollars !
$ 140,000 woud be Pocket change !,and they woud probably use it as a Tax Write Off !
So BOT of Us Win !......Me : The $$$$$
The Corporation NATIONWIDE Exposure ! to thier Product ! -
A tv ad i am pretty sure would cost less than that and reach tons of people. Your one truck won't make hardly a difference. And if you wreck or something happens it could negatively affect their brand. Too much hassle. Maybe advertise your own company logo on your truck in hopes you will get more business.
double yellow Thanks this. -
