Well, I'll be in afghan till about end of September, then be back and have been flopping between own authority and just leasing to a company. I'd have my dad finding my loads if I ran my own. He's been doing this forever, me, only a little over four years.
The reason I want to haul it isn't to get rich, just for the pride. I see all this crap we're sending back to the states and feel it'll be cheap freight, but constant for a while.

You have to remember that there are 100's of carriers that are in competition for that military freight and many are just breaking even if that by cutting the rate. I love taking care of our Military and do move some but the FAK is way is paying less than you really need to do it regularly. Cheap; cut rate companies are a scourge now. No pride.. The pay is not enough to make a living and keep up the truck. Up to about 5 years ago I turned down good non military freight to move military and did pretty good. Now for most of the military stuff it is about 1/2 the rate is was and not worth breaking even. We do A&E.What ever you choose to do I wish you the best. Landstar does a LOT of Military and I recommend you consider heavy haul for the military. A couple of times a year the MRaps run and pay pretty darn well.

Yeah, I wouldn't do anything like ONLY haul military freight. I enjoy variety. I just want to have my name on the list. Always helps if you have a broader range of freight.
