Also to drivers out there who has driven Ryder truck, why the dashboard shown like crack and sealed? And it states that both driver/passenger mirrors doesn't work where they said they will fix it b4 I take the truck out.
Passenger seat seemed to be removed from air ride and now its non reclinable seat w no air ride. I do see some better effort on APU/along w inverter. -
Don't forget that Freightliner is Mercedes just as Detroit.
Stay away from Acert Cat's.
ps OP,be carefull,there were '07's build with DPF.Last edited: Jul 23, 2014

You don't want to get a truck that most people can't work on. All mechanics can't fix mercedes and you want to make sure parts are not more expensive and harder to get. I searched the truck papers and commercial trader and ebay, and usually trucks with mercedes or ultrashift were much cheaper that the others. That's because they have some type of issue that forced theme to ask for less $$$. Any used truck is a crap shoot, think about the type of motor, mileage, parts availability and price. I would talk to mechanics and guys who know there stuff and get their thoughts. I recently got a truck and I wanted Detroit (my last truck had Detroit over mil miles and was running great). Detroit's sometimes can get over a million without overhaul. A motor with over 750 -800k miles could be soon in need of a overhaul/rebuild. My new truck just had an overhaul (600k miles) and came with a working apu. Even still the the turbo had to be replaced, jakes had to be fixed and ac need o rings for freon leak. I'm lucky it was under warranty or I would have been out 3500 bucks. So research and have truck checked out thoroughly, try to buy a truck where you have access to owner and service records. Compare prices and choose wisely with that being said you can only limit your risk, but not totally avoid it. Happy Hunting!

I agree with mostly everyone here. I work for a company that leases trucks from Ryder. I have driven this truck for almost 4 years now and it's junk. We got them used in 2010 they came from the rental fleet just so our company could save a few dollars. My company was looking to stay away from DEF.

I wouldnt pay more then 15000 for a 2007 freightliner with that mileage let alone 31000 heck for 20,000 you could buy a pete 379 or kw900 from the late 90s with a cat or cummins and no emissions crap.
Big Duker Thanks this. -
If you buy a used Ryder truck, make sure it was a leese truck, and find out who had and do some research on their operation! Some customer hire excellent drivers, and some have a lot left to be desired

Good thing you backed out of it. I recently bought one from them about 3 months ago, and so far have spent over $15,000 fixing it. It needed new clutch, new transmission and the turbo just blew last 2 weeks.
Tough learning for me in this business the only thing I haven't done on this truck is an engine rebuild which I am keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have oil in the charge air cooler, or I am screwed.
Shop elsewhere bro, take it from all the advise you have been receiving.knuckledragger and nsxftw Thank this. -
What happened to that truck could have happened to any used truck, so be carful where ever you buy
