I'm an owner operator and the company I am leased to is trying to force elogs on me for no reason. I have no violations since I've worked here. I have a perfect driving record and CSA score. Can they fire me if I refuse?

You run under their DOT number so yes they can force it on you and terminate your contract if you refuse.
-
Do you O/O'S have to pay for elogs or does your company?I don't blame you for not wanting to be forced to elogs.But in trucking drivers are robots whether an owner op or company it seems.

Almost everyone that I've talked to that went from paper to electronic tells me that they're making more bank on the electronic log. Don't fight it.
-
But the real question is can they charge you for the e-logs....? Dealing with documenting compliance seems to be the carriers problem (cost).
I guess they can do anything they want..... One of the many reasons leasing sucks...... -
Depends on what's in the contract... -
Welcome back...
P.S. Doesn't matter what's in the contract.... The carriers just bring out "the new one".Last edited: Aug 18, 2014

I'm OO for Celadon Canada, on elog for over a year; we are running team and solo also; team is OK on elog, but solo can be frustrating, have to preplan very well your trip and the place to take rest breaks,make sure you find parking; we are paying also Qualcomm fee, 14$/week; but I got used, I like it;
my truck ECM was having some problems last month and I had to use paper logs for week , was boring to use pen and paper again. -
kjoseph, truckergalchi, snowblind and 5 others Thank this.
