I have started redoing and checking things on my truck since I have decided to keep it. So far I have changed out all my fluids in both axles and transmission gearbox, replaced my power steering fluid and filter and hoses, replaced my coolant tubes and hoses on my radiator, flushed and filled with new extended life coolant . Replaced all 4 truck batteries. Got the rods and mains done. Replaced all my shocks. Replaced all my hanger bushings. Had my thermostats changed out they were sticking

Truck has eight hundred thousand miles on it uses a little bit of oil but not enough to be concerned about oil pressure has dropped five pounds use to be 60 now sets on 55

I have had this truck since February 2012 has been a good truck fuel mileage not real happy about but could be a lot worse averaging 5.2 to 5.8

This is a cat acert motor not DPF looking for advice and or suggestions on things I may need to do next to keep it in good running order.

I really appreciate the help and advice everyone has given me in the past thank you

New battery cables front to back, chip off all the rust bubbles on the frame and prime and paint it, start setting a few extra cpm aside for the turbo(s) when it/they get sloppy (check the turbine(s) for play/damage if you haven't), check the manifold for leaks, new turbo oil feed line (they tend to get a bit crispy after a few years), check the charge air cooler for leaks, and you should be covered on all the issues I came across in the 5 months I drove an 06 pete with an accert.

I would change all the wheel bearings and seals and u-joints. Change the fluid in your steer axle also. Maybe water pump and oil pump. Cooling fan might start to fail also.

What are the specs and what are you hauling? Might help for perspective on the mpg. I just rode ATL to Shreveport, 28k in my reefer, average 6.8 - 7.0 mpg running 65-70 mph. '07 C-15, 13 sp, 3.25 rears, lopro 22.5. Only economy mod is low rr tires on truck and trailer, nothing else besides a light right foot.

Most likely mpg culprits are usually intake air or exhaust leaks. Check the intake boots, cac, and look for soot around the turbos and flex pipe. Also look at the studs/nuts at the turbo flanges. I've had this truck about as long as you've had yours.

I believe we have the same specs on our truck. This is the way mine is also. I have gained 1/2 mpg by slowing down from 70 to 65, and watching my lead foot. Also got the KR Scan Gauge and it helped me to slow down to 65 when I noticed the difference in mpg I would be getting.

Have checked all of them and they are all good no soot around them or anything. I do pull usually close to 80,000 most of the time, hauling a covered wagon.
