I did some research on what it does and how it does it. It alters the timing, the wastegate causing the turbos to spool up quicker and it boosts the fuel pressure. All of which, despite their claims that it doesnt or wont effect a warranty,..I'm pretty sure should something go wrong and it was discovered that you altered critical events in the motor, they would blast you and void your warranty. Even Pittsburgh Power says it wont effect warranty,.. just unplug it before you send it to the shop. Well duuh,.. LOL

So what do I tell them,.. "Hey, I need the Hard Cruise setting turned to soft". Just like that?
I wouldnt like it, but I would trade 10-15% power for an honest .5 mpg.

Read the horsepower threads that are still available. I have no experience with diesel freak but I'm sure it's the same thing I have done with my engine mods. Their just tricking the ECM where my changes are more internal.
If you drive it right you will get better fuel mileage but if you stand on it all day long it will get worse. With more fuel and more power you spend less time pulling hills and more time just cruising at half throttle. Guys will argue with that all day long that have never tried it but me and horsepower fans all over this forum can prove the difference compared to the winers all day long. If you are low on power you are always pouring fuel to the horses cause they're all you have but if you add more power the horses don't have to work as hard resulting in less fuel. -
All that $200 harness is going to do is take money out of your pocket and put a lot of soot in your oil. There are ways to make an Acert get better mileage and power, but we can no longer talk about those here.
Hurst Thanks this. -
I'm hesitant to up the power on this motor for now. I'm almost at 1.2 millions miles and other then the turbos which were done at 835k and regular valve train and actuator maintenance, the motor is untouched. It doesnt smoke, other than some electrical issues, mechanically this has been a very reliable truck. So until its ready for either an inframe or new motor, I dont really want to screw with it too much. As the old saying goes,.. if it aint broke,..

Is it because of Mr Hainey? (Spelling?)

My motor has no emissions, No EGR, No DPF and no DEF. Nada,. After driving 2 other 475 HP C15's with the DPF and regen BS,.. I never want to go through that again. ARD heads burning out, Lower sensor toast. DPF filter needs cleaning, Manual regen required,.. manual regen not working,.. now in limp mode with a full load. 75 mi to closest Pete or Cat center. Putting along and the motor literally shut off on me while going down the road. Will restart, but for only 30 - 45 seconds before it shuts back off.
As much as I love the CAT, I was totally turned off.
Only issue I have now is occasionally I get an Actuator code, but doing an oil change makes it go away. I have had the head gone through and everything has been adjusted and re-adjusted twice in the last year. They gave it a clean bill of health. They said that the oil viscosity can trigger the code.

when i was a mechanic, back in the 90's. epa offered $10g for anyone that ratted out someone that tampered with their emissions.
don't know if they still do that today.
it's been discussed of shops holding trucks that were tampered with. till they were fixed back up.
