Why do we accept to be paid by brokers when they want and how they want. They have a business because we work, we pay for the fuel, we put our time work for them, we pay for the insurance, we pay to repair the trucks and trailers... etc. They just make phone calls, promise things and treat us bad sometimes.

I am frustrated, really! I booked a load with a broker. They said they would pay in three days after receiving the paperwork. They received the paperwork on Monday and they pay on Friday (I wonder what school they went to learn math like this)!!!! They said they have ACH but... it looks like it takes them 20DAYS(!!!) to set-up the accounts (I did ACH set-ups also and it takes 2 minutes) so they would MAIL the check on Friday!

Another broker is selling me a load and he says that they pay in 2-3 days. After the truck is loaded, he sends an e-mail saying: "you have to invoice the shipper". Well... the shipper pays in 2 weeks and you know... "we cut the checks on Thursday, Friday we put them into envelopes and Monday we mail them" plus... 7 days in the mail because they are in Canada.

So... we have few good thousands blocked... in the same time we have to pay for everything to support their business and salaries... in the same time, dare to deliver late... of course they would charge you and you get bad ratings in their systems etc.

This business needs some changes really bad!!!!!

    Just venting.

Believe it or not they are not all that bad. You need more operating cash in the bank if you absolutely need to be paid so quickly ...

and what research did you do beforehand that made you think things were any other way. just be glad it isn't 25 years ago, the norm was about 30 days, mailed checks only, factoring was non-existent.

getting your own authority isn't the cakewalk you were led to believe is it??

You could always demand COD or refuse to haul it.

Hi skateboardman, boy howdy, got that right. Remember those crooks that you trip leased from years ago, to get you back home? You ALWAYS took the advance, as many times, that was all you saw.

Well, the worst is that you can't trust anyone. It is driving me nuts. Having 2 of these in one week is too much :(. Anyway, we'll survive but it is frustrating that they expect the carries to offer high quality services while theirs are far from acceptable.

I did research before booking the loads and I haven't found anything bad.

That isn't the norm today? I've got over $20,000 in receivables from the last 3 weeks & the only way they'd pay sooner is if I forfeit a percentage...
