TQL.. (they might screw you when you least expect it)
CH Robinson. (You will have to pay dues, they have good paying loads, but have some carriers dedicated on it already. they have loads in most all major cities)
Landstar (good broker, havent used them in a long time)

Cetane+ and Big Lou Thank this.

Subscribe to at least a couple of loadboards and see what happens. Brokers can check your authority before they call. There are a lot of brokers. Not all of them have requirements for time in business. It is a little hard to suggest brokers without knowing the type of equipment or freight you want to haul.

try the ooida's load board mymembersEdge.com They have a 30 day free trail. I know a driver who just went out on his own is very happy with ME. He has run in to the same problem you have but is still able to stay busy. 123 loadboard gives a 10 day trial and visit freefreightsearch.com there are a few that will give free trials and you can develop relationships with the brokers you deal with on the boards. I'm really considering going out on my own as well. Good Luck!.......Keep us posted on how it works out for you.

You can always knock on doors and find your own direct shippers. Van freight can be found most anywhere.

You are very correct. However, being in mid-Florida like he is, it is extremely hard to find any loads, until produce season. Then dry vans in Florida can do well.

YES, Post, Post, Post! I cant keep up with the great paying calls when I have my truck posted. Now I have a step with ramps if needed. If they give you crap about time with authority, look for the next one. I was worried about the same thing before I got mine. But after some advice from members here, I did it. I have not had a problem yet, there were only two brokers that would not use me. The other thing I WILL suggest is, a reputable factor. There are two reasons I found that I would recommend this service. First is a short term, cash within 2 hours. Second security blanket, they have the resources to be able to tell if the broker/ shipper is good for it or not. I have had many business ventures, and getting payed is the hardest part. The 5% I lose to them is well under the extra that I am getting for hauling these loads. There will be plenty that will tell you to never factor, thats fine, just you need to do what works for you. But to be honest, I cant believe how much the loads pay right now. We are riding a big wave, so better get paddling to get to the best spot to ride this one all the way to the shore.

    G/MAN and blacklabel Thank this.
