Guess its just part of doing business but seems these carrier packets getting bigger and more complicated, was on its today, seen a great rate going where i wanted by a broker i never heard of but was ranked high with all the bonds in place, he sent me a carrier packet with a quick pay section that i just giveup on, never seen nothing like it, fill out online at several diff places, fax in certain pages, get setup numbers to sighin to a fast pay portal, then printout instructions on how to use this nw system to send in paperwork. I filled out alot over last few weeks but dang i cant imagine trying to do all this sitting in a cab in middle of nowhere, when yall get loads off loadboards do you go thru all this with every broker? Some could take days to setup.

Never had one take days but yes some seem a bit excessive. Unless it's someone like Landstar I usually don't do the quick payment option as a lot of them rape you on it. Trans flo is nice for sending in invoices but I havent found it to be any quicker like they claim as far as getting paid.

Nice, pro mods are probably my favorite class of drag racing. A little out of my budget though lol

One of the best contracts that I can recall signing with a broker was about a paragraph. It basically stated that I agreed to keep insurance (the amount was never listed) and they agreed to pay me. Very simple. There wasn't even a non compete or no back solicitation clause in the contract. This was a company I started doing business with many years ago. I never had a problem with them or getting paid. I gave them the paperwork and they wrote me a check with NO discounts.

Today, most brokers think they need to write a book in order to do business. It is part of this business. Before signing any contract make sure to read the wording very carefully. Don't be afraid to make changes to protect yourself. If the broker refuses to agree to the changes, walk away from them. I have done that on several instances. When you sign a contract you are bound to the terms, whether you have read it or not. When you sign a contract the law assumes you have read it and agree to all the terms.

The best brokers I've used like GMAN said: one paragraph, I stay insured, I move the load, they write the check. No quick pay option available, I'll have the check in under 15 days after I email them a copy of the signed BOL and an invoice.

I feel like if it's a long convoluted contract: they've been screwed before and/or are trying to screw me over.

Definitely keep track of all the fees for each broker & adjust the rate accordingly. For example, Landstar deducts $1.75 from the amount agreed upon in your rate confirmation if you do not carry $1m general liability (So I always insist on $3.50 more than I would have accepted otherwise).

As for quickly filling them out, I recommend using a pdf program like acrobat reader.

    1) Take a black pen, sign a white piece of paper, and scan it (or take a picture with your cell phone and email it to yourself). Open it with a photo editor, crop it down, click print, but instead of selecting your printer, select "print as pdf" and save it in your trucking folder. Do the same with a voided business cheque.

    2) Open the carrier packet with acrobat, scroll down to where you need to sign, click "tools and sign," click "place a signature" and then use the cursor to draw a box where you want the signature on the document. A dialogue box will pop up and you can either type your name picking between a couple fonts, or you can upload your signature pdf file and save it for future use (and do it again for your cheque for packets with direct deposit).

The first one may take a while, but once your signature & cheque are set up it is just a quick click to switch between them. Once done, you can email, efax, or print/fax. Do the same for rate cons... It typically takes me under 15 minutes return a signed carrier packet using my laptop (& phone as a hotspot).
