Would you care to have full and updated online database of shippers and receivers with basic information, like address and phone?

Of course, no need to worry, Allow Me. I want to see whether people need such database or not. Asking for opinion, that's it.

OK, fine. That would be a very big "bible" since so many shippers/receivers in the U.S.

I wouldn't need receivers info, just shippers since they pay my revenue. But, knowing a shipper's name address phone etc won't necessarily do me any good as an O/O. You can't just cold-call a shipper down the road from where you're emptying out and solicit a load. You need to go thru the "front door".

You can get what you need from Thomas Register. It lists all manufacturers in the U.S. They may also have information on Canadian and Mexican manufacturers. I don't recall if it lists the shipping manager, but it does give information on type of products manufactured. It has been a while since I have check their database. I also think there is another company that publishes a shipper database.

I would use a database with info on companies we pick up or deliver to. It would prob have to be updated by drivers.

Some things I would look for:

    - Directions if it is hard to get into or you need to use a side street
    - Facilities for drivers
    - How early you can arrive for appointments and if they allow you to take a 10 there
    - Lumpers
    - Average time it takes to load/unload

    Konrad Po Thanks this.
