Quote"And no-one will ever look out for #1 as well as #1 will guaranteed. It's one of the most rewarding aspects of ownership and I don't get it why anyone would farm out something so important. I hear excuses like "well I need to be rolling" or "I need to be sleeping when I'm not rolling" my answer to that is I book loads when i'm rolling and many times looking at ways to find a good load on my time for sleep. You need to be working on getting the best rate. How are you gonna know if it's the best when someone else is doing it? Answer - you never will. quote "
One has to learn to ask the right questions of the agents or dispatchers.. Imperative to have the agent send a confirmation on the load with all the info agreed upon. rate ,equipment , detention. times dates of load - unload. rate to be paid if load is canceled. Verbal confirmation is not enough unless you have built a strong trusting relationship with them. That takes time.

Just a note. Most dispatch services will do the billing for you and the check comes to them, not you then they pay you. Why? Because truckers don't pay up. Many will also do factoring for a fee. The other option is credit card if you want to do your own billing. They will take their fee up front by charging your card.

ok first off although 3rd party dispatcher is not necessary there is one huge advantage to it that makes it worth it. imagine this your driving hard to your delivery you have 1300 miles and 2 days to get there you finally get there your beat after driving all you wanna do is sleep and #### well dont feel like looking for a load you say ill do it in the morning right you get up at 9 am start looking for your next load only to find all the good ones are taken and just the crap paying ones left hell most of the good paying ones don't even get taken off the board after they get booked now your just wasting more time. however with a dispatcher your already booked days before while you was driving.
best alternative to a dispatcher is what i have a broker that keeps me moving all the time he will even book loads a week in advance one after the other basically my broker his also my dispatcher without the dispatching cost -
Authority active on sept. 11, I have not had a problem finding real good paying loads. I have not even been away from the house more than 4 night in a row. I am different though, I actually like making the salesman squirm when Im buying. The brokers are not dumb, they can tell right away who they are dealing with. It is an enjoyable game. Dont EVER get in the mindset you need to be driving to make money! You need to only be worried about the PROFIT of every move.
