Hi. Been reading through your Forum and been trying to educate myself. I have come across a way to get a business started and want to start running two or so trucks.
I have been driving for a large Company for almost 2 years now regionally. I don't want to do the lease to own through them or anyone.
In reading through your Forum I have come to the conclusion that it would be best to sub contract to a large company...at lease for a while to learn the business right.
How is this done. Who would I contact.
I have been made aware from some fellow drivers that as soon as the company hears that you don't want to buy your trucks from them, they don't want to talk to you or if you work with them they wont give you the miles you need.
Can anyone give me some insight?
    Thanks!

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I'm leased to small company in Chicago. They charge me 18% off gross(their trailer). my week gross is 5-7K. Have no problems with time off or what ever I need. They even going to borrow me some for repairs (most likely inframe for 2009 Cascadia).
This is my first company i work for. They gave 40ct/mi for start driver with no experience at all.

My advice if you can get your own truck, that would best for you

You've got a lot of work to do. You have to figure out what kind of freight you want to haul and what about buying a truck. New/used??
    Plenty to think about.
    take your time.
theres no rush to get on this particular gig
it took me awhile. I've driven mostly tanker all my career, firstly food grade, now chemical.
as an example hauling chemicals is a good payer but you have to get on with the right outfit.
    Good luck.

    Check with these 2 companies:

    Farm2Fleet
    Cardinal Logistics

    Also read the OOIDA website.

There are tons of companies that will take on O/O's. You need to do some research.

@Dr_Fandango44 Are you leased to a company or are you currently operating under your own authority? What kind of premium do you get hauling chemicals. We are in the Midland, TX area and want to haul fuel. Have no idea what the common carrier rate is for this type of work in this area.
