Any of you guys ever pull fuel or gas tanker just for the winter months? Since the propane co will pay the ins, I'm wondering if I can drop my ins except for bobtail. And pick it back up in March.

I pulled diesel and heating oil when the liquid asphalt season dropped off around this time. I didn't do it on my own but the company I was leased with gave me those loads in the winter. It's a good job. Steady loads. Some problems depend on where you go. I did diesel to truck stops and that was good. Two loads in a day and I'm fine. There was enough space to maneuver and you didn't worry about 4 wheelers. I can't speak much for gas stations. It's the same deal, but gas stations are going to be tighter. As for insurance, I don't see why not. It may depend on your provider but don't quote me.
If you don't mind, how's propane as an o/o?

Always enjoyed doing tank work. I was bouncing around the idea of leasing the truck on with someone and hauling propane for the winter but decided just to stay out on my own. If I were to do it I would probably just leave my authority and insurance active if its only going to be seasonal.

your going to have to keep your insurance active to keep your mc active. you could drop your cargo and any other coverages down meet the min requirements while your running under someone else for the seasonal work.

    Thanks guys for that info.
kw550cat LP Transportation INC is running a ad for O/O to pull their tanks from Nov. to March. Which works good for me because I can haul nursery cargo from March to Nov

If you don't have one already you'll probably need a hydrapac setup. They run around $4000 installed.

Thanks, I ran liquid asphalt so I'm familiar with the while pump deal. Only thing is if I want another seasonal job.
