Here is my problem we are a open deck outfit not a dry van outfit. We had a o/o fall of a trailer and get hurt he is now wanting to work. We r looking to rent a dry van for him but all freight would be off the load boards first problem. Second problem because of holiday season good luck renting a van, if they are available they want you to sign a six month lease. Now for the question I have located a dry van for 2500. Its a 95 fruehuaf 53x102 vented. Looks very straight and dry. Front axle tires are 40% rear axle tires 70% brakes roughly 40%. One newer door and one door showing some bubbles good seals all around. Floor looks to be solid. Interior is plywood line and straight. Aluminium roof straight no patches. Is this trailer to old to run the load boards for 3-4 weeks? I'm unsure I have always heard 10 years or newer for dry vans. Its definitely cheaper than leaseing for six months and I think I can sell it and get my money back, or most of it.

Hi 444, I'd go for it. Fruehauf is a good wagon. In all my years, I pulled some junk wagons. Holes in floors, doors coming off, worn suspension, so this sounds pretty good. You didn't say if it has spring or air ride. Not much to check with air ride, but if spring, check suspension, slider(if equipped), track rods, springs, and check cross braces underneath, no broken or missing rivets to the outside rail. And if all fails, it makes a great mobile storage unit.

Yea, I'd go for it. 10yrs and newer mostly for certain auto parts loads and some paper loads.....90% of place aren't concerned with the year of your trailer. As long as its in good condition...

Just thinking about it, a lot more places require an air ride trailer, though no one comes out and looks at your suspension to check :)

The trailer is air ride. Its a goofy deal the trailer is about 4 hours away at a trailer shop. The owner lives in another state. The shop has a bill against it so I'm suppose to pay the balance of the bill and give the owner the remaining balance of the 2500. I had the shop send out a mechanic to look it over so all info is coming from the shop. They say its ready to go just needs a truck. The shop says its been there awhile. They took pics it looks good. They have been very helpful I think they want their money...lol. I'm leaning towards getting

If it doesn't leak and has a good floor it should be good to go for 99% of the loads on the load board. $2500 sounds like a steal. You may actually make a little money off it.

i would say go for it. many years ago i needed a car trailer to pull with my pickup for personal use and i was going to need it for about 2 weeks. every rental place wanted a lot of money to rent a trailer for 2 weeks. so i bought a used trailer did what i needed to do and then sold it for what i paid for it when i was done with it.

i would go there and check it out for myself first obviously though.

Like nikmirbe said, the only problem you should run into is paper and some food grade loads. My '03 ex-Crete trailer does everything I need it too. If anybody ever asks "it's an '05, and no, you can't see the registration. " And no, they haven't asked.
