Where is it coming from and going to? Are you helping a driver out because his truck went down? Or is he too busy with other work and needed to cover this load one way or another?
-
It's his trailer and hay he doesn't have a truck . MI to FL

The only thing to haul back out of Florida with a van is motorcycle doors and they are cheap! -
3K would be a friendly rate as in it is your friend, spot market rates to Fl. go a lot higher than that
-
use to get 2.45 mile two years ago for this. I hauled a lot of van freight down to FL and would not take any less then 2.45 a mile. Watch these hay sellers and buyers they dont like to pay or claim you agreed to a lower rate did one load and never again took two days to get loaded then a whole day for unloading and a mess is my trailer. I go to atlanta ga to get a back haul in the 1.75 to 1.90 mile range.

At 1.85 per mi. both ways you might not hurt him to bad? If you can keep the return load $ ?

So this is direct. He's not really in a bind. He just needs a truck. You or anyone. Miami reloads is a sad proposition any time of year for a dry van. Right now it sits at 2 loads for every 1 truck posted. So you're looking at $1 a mile or worse for reloads down there. Brokers will book trucks all day at $2.50 going down there that is cheap. With hardly trying you can get $3 a mile to there from most places. On short notice if you want to book and go you're looking at $1.60 a mile, give or take, from Atlanta back up to Detroit 700 miles. If you play it patiently and hop scotch back North you can do better than that. So $4,900 down and $1,100 back up from Atlanta to Detroit that's $2.15 on the 2,800 round which is cheap but big revenue on tall miles. Nothing to get excited about but a revenue generating week anyways. That's the only kind of favor I'd do direct going to Florida. At my cut 89% I have to gouge over $4 a mile to down there or it's a no go, and I seldom go there. Plenty of guys will run to.Miami for $2.50 a mile on 1,400 miles in the winter. If he is your friend he wouldn't screw you like that. You need to make money this is business. If he thinks that's outrageous have him call CHR or TQL and see what they charge. They might pay someone $2.50 but they're not going to cut a guy like him any slack with such a one off load. Wonder what he's getting per bale and how many bales.
double yellow and blairandgretchen Thank this.
