I don't understand the question? Are you saying you will lease onto a company, so the company can pick up some of the costs such as Base Plates and want to know what a good company is for that?

Sure it can be a good idea. Are you good with money? Do you have a business sense?

It's a good idea if the money is right. Just keep in mind it costs over a buck a mile to drive down the road. I wouldn't lease with these milage pay company's unless it's ltl. Be careful with FedEx ground. It sounds good but it's not all that

Sure, there's lots that do just what you are describing. Sometimes carriers will give you the option to get your plates/insurance through them, but you can get your own too if you want. Do you want to dispatch yourself or have someone find loads for you? Landstar, Schneider, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Farm2Fleet as well, let you pick what freight you want off of a load board. What type of freight do you want to haul? Do you have your own trailer?

You can lease on with any company and buy your own plates. It's a good idea to lease on if you don't fancy finding your own loads and having to deal with brokers.
For instance I haul tanker/chemicals and pay is good and I get paid % percentage so I have a clear idea what the gross rate is before I take the load.
But as usual opinions will vary on this topic. You just have to figure out what works for you. Takes time.
Bear in mind that some kinds of freight pays better than others, so you need to shop around. There are so many variables and just make sure you can manage your $$ well.
    Good luck.

It's a good idea until you're ready to get your authority and go independent- if that's what you want to do eventually. It'll give you a chance to figure out how it works, and get your feet wet while taking some of the load off. For the cut the carrier takes, they'll do a bunch of the backroom paperwork (make sure you ask and understand what you're getting for your money) and will provide you with loads. Make sure you run the numbers before you sign the contract so you'll know there will be enough money to cover your costs as well as provide you with a living.

You can't just pick a company and lease on, the do have requirments you and your equipment have to meet.
