Was wondering if it would be legal to install some type of rack on the tractor and carry a hang glider. A glider breaks down roughly to the shape of a tube that is 17 feet long and 1 foot in diameter, but could be broken down a couple of feet shorter. They are usually carried on a rack (like a Thule) on the roof of your car, with another support mounted on the front end.

You may have to be creative depending on the tractor roof. Hmmm... it just hit me that it would probably interfere with others seeing all your front clearance lights on the tractor/trailer from certain angles. So that would probably kill it.

I'll ask anyways...would it be legal? If not, I might have to take up paragliders, which you stuff into a sack. It would be a major step down and put my manhood in doubt. But airtime must be gotten somehow.

LOL when I first started reading and I understood the dimensions....my first thought was maybe you should take up paragliding ....:) You covered that comment in your last paragraph.....

I don't see why not.....as long as you have it strapped down with straps(not bungees)

Hi Wilburleft, I haven't been here all that long, but I must say, that's one of the most unusual questions I've ever heard asked.

the bigger question is this, how you plan on getting to places to hang glide? hauling it around wont be the problem.

now if ya really got the nerve try base jumping.

Lol. It doesn't have anything to do with nerves. Hang gliding is flying and base jumping is falling. There's a misconception that hang gliding is an extreme sport. It can be if you make it, but for many pilots it's a calm, relaxing activity. I like tearing down a ridge just above the tree tops, making somewhat radical approaches into LZ's, and flying close to the terrain. Also love cross country racing with a lot of other gliders. Base jumping doesn't look like fun for me, but it does look scary mostly for fear of equipment malfunction.

...oh I see! #### that's smart... Get a running start before you have a wall of traffic and deploy the hang glider!

You'll need one for your trailer too! :laughing2::laughing3:
