I need to go up thru the NYC area with 5 axles. I got a stop in Lyndhurst, nj and Greenwich, ct then up to Worcester mass with a back haul picking up in Maine going to western NC.

Any who, last time I rode the GW last year cash price was 100$ going north.

my question is, is the GW bridge free coming OUT NYC, going back south into New Jersey?

and is the tappan zee bridge really that much cheaper than the GW? (Cash price) (if so I will go around)

thanks in advance, I'm just trying to route all this out for the most cost effective way to come in and back out. 👍

Yes it's free going back to Jersey. Been years since i crossed either but the last time Tappan Zee was about $20. Where are you coming from? Best route might be staying on 81 up to Wilkes Barre area of PA then 84 east.

Is this the NYC loophole???! ...lol thanks!

and Rollin, thanks, I'm going to be in the stinker anyways with my stop in Lyndhurst, then Greenwich is only 30-40 miles away just cross the CT border.

Tappan Zee is cheaper (i think its around $30-$40 cash) but you need to go up and around. GW is free going south, but I think they just raised to it to 102.50 going North (cash). I go around to the Tappan Zee or hell even up 87 and across 84 depending on where in CT I am going. But Greenwich, I would cross the Tappan Zee.

Going to NYC on a weekly basis, GW price for sure just went up, think it's closer to $110 now, lemee check my prepass charges if I remember.

Been doing a lot of work in south Bronx and East Brooklyn lately so I'm favoring the Narrows anymore, plus that traffic into/out of fort Lee- holy sweet baby Jesus nursing in a manger.

"Hello sir, I'll be at your facility right at 07:00."
    "sounds great!"

Tappan Zee cash price for a 5 axle truck is $32.75 peak (which is 6am to 10am weekdays), and $16.38 off-peak (all other times). The round trip toll is collected Southbound, no toll on Northbound trips. The GW is $95.00 at all times, trucks must use the upper level. The toll is paid going into NY, Westbound into NJ is free. I've used both bridges quite a bit the last couple of years. Seems like much fewer problems and delays using the Tappan Zee. The Cross Bronx is a lot rougher with my Chalmers suspension on my 98 Western Star. You should look at getting an EZ Pass, a lot more user friendly , faster, and most of all, cheaper.
