I just bought my first dump. She's old but runs like a champ 78 international 270 Cummins, 13 speed Eaton. Three stage, one way hydraulic. And thats where my problem lies.. the ram leaked at the second stage, and when i would lower the bed when it hit the second stage it was a little faster but then the first stage was normal, so didn't think much of it. Then I had the ram pulled off and repacked and leak was fixed problem solved, except when i dropped the bed the first time it dropped to the second stage and fell like a rock then grabbed the first stage and was fine.. any ideas what it might be
I need help!

Sounds like air. There is a fitting on top the ram to bleed it. Best I remember you crack fitting and put her in raise till you get a good flow out of bleeder shut it down and tighten bleeder. It will prob. be easier with a helper
ampm wayne and triaxlein Thank this. -
I totally agree with wore out. You have air in it. It needs bled. Do not get injured doing yourself. I would get someone experienced in bleeding it to help you. Dump beds can be dangerous.
triaxlein Thanks this. -
Thanks wore out and ampm. Thats what i was hoping for, nothing else really makes sense, lowers normal on third stage, drops like a rock on second stage and back to normal on third stage.... I'll try to get it bled tomorrow if I can and post results...
ampm wayne and wore out Thank this. -
Oops...I mean back to normal on first stage!!
